Saint George the Martyr Wolverton

Welcome to St George the Martyr.

Striving to be “an illumination of God’s love in the community of Wolverton”

St George’s currently has 77 people on the electoral roll. Most members of the congregation live locally. Our members are a diverse in terms of profession, age and church background. This diversity is a real strength, but can also prove challenging at times.  In recent months our attendance figures have increased compared to the same time last year and we have seen new members joining the church.  This presents us with the opportunity (and challenge) of combining new ideas with past knowledge and experience.

The congregation has a very open, dynamic and innovative outlook towards liturgy and worship, though rooted in the central Anglican tradition. Our music ranges from old and modern hymns to worship songs played by our worship band (Church Street Band). As well as offering said BCP Eucharist services, Parish Communion and All Age Worship, we are trying out creative midweek experimental worship, which gives us all the opportunity to explore our own faith in new ways and be challenged by different ways and styles of worship

With a significant number of families and young people the issue of outreach and social mission figure highly. Geographically we are located in the main or ‘central’ commercial area of Wolverton, but it is our aim to also be at the spiritual, cultural and social heart of the community and central to the lives of the people of Wolverton.  Our aim to reach the community is reflected in the many activities which involve and aim to attract local people whether they are members of the church or not.
