Sharing and growing in faith, prayer and our understanding of the Christian Gospel is very important. Not everything can be done or expect to be done with the context of the Sunday and weekday services. Meeting outside the context of the formal service invigorates and strengthens us in our fellowship together and in our desire to become true disciples of Christ.
There are many groups to get involved in at different locations around the Benefice. Some are in either HT or StG while others take place in peoples homes. These activities are primarily for adults but there are also a number of groups and activities that are specifically focused on children and young adults (see the Children and Youth pages).
Living Faith for the Future is the vision for the Diocese of Oxford for the five years 2009/14, as approved by diocesan synod in November 2008.
The vision is the transformation of all human life under God. The purpose is to join with God in creating a caring, sustainable and growing Christian presence in every part of the Diocese of Oxford, enabling every Christian and every Christian community to live and share the love of God, seen in the life of Jesus Christ.
Prayer & Prayer Requests
Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned and hope is lifted Prayer is the place of admitting our need, and of adopting humility. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through the Son of God, Jesus our Lord.
Prayer is offered regularly in the context of services in both churches. There is also a Prayer Team at St George’s on hand for those requesting private prayer after the service. The prayer team will also pray for things that are on your mind, troubling your heart.or something you may want to give thanks for. Please use the Enquiries and comments form to make a prayer request for anything or anyone you want the team to pray for and/or would like mentioned in prayers during the services.
Friday Soup & Prayers
Weekly at 12.10pm (StG)
Saturday Breakfast & Prayers
Weekly at 9.15am(StG)
There are a number of cell groups that meet throughout the weekday evening and one that meets on Thursday morning (primarily aimed at mothers).
The groups meet in fellowship exploring faith together and offering prayer in a close and friendly setting (usually a member’s home). The groups are informal and have developed their own style and programmes of activity and are open to all.

Emmaeus Home Group
The group meets on a Sunday evening at a member’s home. It follows on from the successful first section of the Emmaus course which introduced the Christian faith. We have recently finished a 21 week course in the Growth section called "Growing as a Christian" which looked at key aspects of the Christian journey such as prayer, the Bible and discovering the Sacraments. The sessions are well structured and the group members enjoy the sessions, about 90 minutes, and each other’s company. Close friendships have resulted from getting to grips with the topics.

The Pot Boilers is the Benefice book group. It meets in a church member's home and is open to all, with books tending to relate to our faith. We meet, discuss and share views about chosen. It is very informal, rather than systematic or indeed, academic. The thoughts people bring often result in discussions which other members find valuable.
